Anthony Greenhalgh, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

How Will I Feel?

Many people find an acupuncture treatment a pleasant experience.  Usually a feeling of peace and relaxation comes over one during treatment.   Afterwards most people feel rather relaxed and calm.

People of absolutely any age can benefit from traditional Chinese medicine as you can see below...

A typical consultation

A consultation will usually start with me taking the pulses...

and possibly examining the tongue.  These ancient diagnostic techniques are surprisingly effective

I can then decide what points need to be stimulated.  Usually anywhere between two and a dozen needles will be used at a consultation. Most people barely feel the ultra-fine needles being inserted.

The callipers are used for measuring.

Needles are left in place either for a second or two, or for up to 20 minutes, depending on the required effect. Afterwards you may feel relaxed, mentally focussed and energised

The 3 needles, which have blue grips, are so fine they are nearly invisible in this picture.

At the end of the treatment - Mum was next!

Occasionally you may feel drowsy for a few hours if the treatment has been particularly strong, though you should be fine to travel home alone.  If you are in any doubt, you could take a friend with you on your first treatment.

If you are considering having an acupuncture treatment and have any questions or concerns, please do ring me to discuss them.
